PATEK PHILIPPE RARE C.1870 ENGRAVED 18K YELLOW GOLD POCKET WATCH -$50K APPRAISAL & CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
This exquisite Patek Philippe open-face key-less lever pocket watch is a true marvel, housed in a beautifully engraved 18 Karat Yellow Gold case. The watch features a stylish mechanical wind movement, ensuring precise timekeeping. The enamel white dial is adorned with black painted Arabic numerals for hour indicators and red Arabic numerals for minute indicators, creating a striking contrast. A small seconds sub-dial sits elegantly at 6 o'clock, adding to the watch's charm.
The inner case is exquisitely engraved with the inscription "J.R. Parrott Jacksonville, Fla Alex Mitchell, 2830 St. Johns Ave" and "Made for Greenleaf Crosby Co Jacksonville", adding a personal touch to this luxurious timepiece. Joseph Robinson Parrott (October 30, 1858 – October 13, 1913) was President of the Florida East Coast Railway. He died in Maine on October 13, 1913. He graduated from Yale University in 1883, where he was a member of Skull and Bones. He was a close associate of Henry Flagler. A car ferry was named for him.
His wife Helen Parrot built another house on St. Johns Ave once widowed it still stands at 3116 St. Johns Ave.
Alexander Mitchell (October 17, 1817 – April 19, 1887) was a Scottish-born banker, railroad financier and Democratic politician in Milwaukee.
He and his wife Martha Reed built “Villa Alexandria” in the 1870’s, as a winter home, along 140 acres of land along the St. John River, Jacksonville Florida. Unfortunately the stunning property was demolished around 1925 as part of a development plan, to make way for the San Marco subdivision.
